Dr. Sow Chew Fei,
Sow Chew Fei, has been in the International Medical University, Malaysia for the last eleven years teaching clinical and communication skills. In 2014, she was appointed as the Head of Department heading a group of mainly general practitioners. She is involved in curriculum planning and assessment of clinical and communication skills. She created the integration of communication skills into the medical curriculum and improved the processes of OSCE with initiatives like standard-setting and psychometric analysis. Her role also involved driving the Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre (CSSC). She was appointed as the Director of CSSC in 2016 where she is responsible for strategic planning of the centre. The CSSC is the centre for simulation learning for all schools in the university. The simulation learning uses simulated patients, simple manikins to computerised manikins, virtual reality and augmented reality. In 2018, she was appointed as the Associate Dean of Clinical and Experiential Learning where she oversees a committee of representatives from all schools which involved in creating guidelines and policies for the university in regards to clinical practise in teaching, learning and assessment. She holds a medical degree from Manipal University, India and was practising as a general practitioner for eleven years before joining the academia. She holds a Diploma in Dermatology from the Royal College of Physician, Glasgow and a Master in Medical Education from the University of Dundee. Her research interest is focused on medical education.
